The Monday MLB schedule will get underway with the first game of a doubleheader between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets from Citi Field. The Braves (48-50) are three games below .500 on the road and trail the Mets by five full games for first place. On Sunday, Atlanta managed just four hits and struck out ten times during a 2-1 road loss against Philadelphia.

Rookie left-hander Kyle Muller (1-3 3.20 ERA) will make his fifth career major league start for the Braves. Control has been an issue for Muller, who has allowed 11 walks through his first 19 plus innings.

The New York Mets have won 30 of their first 45 home games and hold a four game lead over Philadelphia for first place. On Sunday, Jeff McNeil’s pinch-hit two run double put New York ahead for good during a 5-4 home victory versus Toronto. 1B Pete Alonso connected on his 22nd home run of the season for the Mets, who improved to 52-44 on the year.

Thirty year old right-hander Marcus Stroman (7-8 2.59 ERA) will get the nod for the Mets in the first game of the doubleheader. Last time out, Stroman allowed just one hit in eight innings during a 7-0 road victory against Cincinnati.

New York SP Jacob deGrom (forearm) threw off a mound on Sunday and hopes to return early next month. Through 98 games, Atlanta ranks 8th in OPS and 10th in runs scored.
