Athletics at Mariners 9/29/19 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Oakland Athletics play the final game of the regular season on the road Sunday against the Seattle Mariners. Oakland lost to Seattle on Friday 4-3 but clinched a wildcard spot in the American League. Oakland could have moved closer to hosting the wildcard against Tampa Bay, but closer Liam Hendriks blew a save by allowing a pair of runs in the ninth. 

Seattle raced onto the field in joy after rallying to beat the A’s. The Mariners scored twice with two outs as an RBI single by Shed Long scored Mallex Smith to tie the game and J.P. Crawford ripped an RBI double that knocked in the winning run, as Long scored from first base on the Crawford double.  

Marcus Semien leads Oakland with a .286 batting average. Matt Chapman leads in home runs with 36 while Semien leads in RBIs with 92 and in hits with 187. As a team, the A’s are averaging .249 at the plate. On Sunday, the A’s will send Tanner Roark to the mound. The right-hander is 10-9 with an ERA of 4.32, 153 Ks and 49 BBs.
