Oakland could have moved closer to hosting the wildcard against Tampa Bay, but closer Liam Hendriks blew a save by allowing a pair of runs in the ninth.
Seattle raced onto the field in joy after rallying to beat the A’s. The Mariners scored twice with two outs as an RBI single by Shed Long scored Mallex Smith to tie the game and J.P. Crawford ripped an RBI double that knocked in the winning run, as Long scored from first base on the Crawford double.
Marcus Semien leads Oakland with a .286 batting average. Matt Chapman leads in home runs with 36 while Semien leads in RBIs with 92 and in hits with 187.
