Astros at Red Sox 10/14/18 - MLB Picks & Predictions

Game Two of the ALCS between the Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox will take place on Sunday evening from Fenway Park. Last night, the defending World Series Champion Astros pulled away late to score a 7-2 victory. Josh Reddick hit a solo shot and Yuli Gurriel added a three-run blast in the ninth inning. SP Justin Verlander gave up two runs and struck out six batters in six innings to earn the win.

Twenty-eight year old righty Gerrit Cole (15-5 2.88 ERA) has been spectacular in his first season with the Astros. Last time out, Cole allowed one run and struck out 12 batters across seven innings to lead Houston to a 3-1 victory versus Cleveland. The Boston Red Sox won a major league best 108 games during the regular season and shredded the Yankees in four games during the ALDS. In Game One, SP Chris Sale was relieved after allowing two runs and walking four batters in just four innings. Steve Pearce had a hit and scored a run in a losing effort for the Red Sox.

Thirty-three year old southpaw David Price (16-7 3.58 ERA) will be glad to face another team other than the New York Yankees. Price, who has never won a postseason game as a starter, was roughed up for three runs and only recorded five outs during a 6-2 loss versus the Yankees in the ALDS.

Boston RP Steven Wright (knee) was removed from the ALDS roster and his status is uncertain. Through 162 regular season games, Houston ranked 7th in batting average and 6th in runs scored. For the season, Boston ranked 1st in batting average and 1st in runs scored. Take the Astros to jump out to a commanding 2-0 lead in this best-of-seven series with a win on Sunday. Final Score Prediction, Houston Astros win 6-4.
