The Astros were able to play in a normal baseball game on opening day compared to a lot of the fireworks that were seen in most of the other games. The Astros put in 5 runs against the Tampa club, but what was impressive and a good sign for the Astros was the defense and pitching staff only allowed a single win to be scored in the game.

Collin McHugh will be heading to the mound for the Astros in this game here. McHugh has thrown a total of 726 innings in his career, but has struck out 689 batters. He has been decent on the mound as well with a 54-38 record on the year and has posted a decent 3.87 ERA so far this season. The Rays have to find the offense this year if they want to be seen as any type of a threat and the 1 run against the Astros on opening day definitely did not help matters out for the Rays. The fans in Tampa are going to quickly lose confidence in the team and that could lead to the seats at Tropicana Field catching more air time than the balls the Rays hitters make contact with.

Tyler Glasnow is the pitcher who the Rays are handing the ball over to in this game here. Glasnow is still fairly young in pitching standards with only 197 innings being thrown. He is a strikeout pitcher with 216 strikeouts and a dismal 4-16 career record, but has a 5.35 ERA on the season.

The Rays hitting struggles are going to show up again in this game as the Rays are unable to do much against McHugh in this game here and that means the Rays are not able to keep pace with the Astros who are going to get to Glasnow early and force the Rays pen to get an early season workout. Final Score Prediction, Houston Astros win 5-0.
