Astros at Angels 8/1/20 - MLB Picks & Predictions

Angel Stadium will play host to a Saturday afternoon MLB battle between the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels. On Friday, OF Kyle Tucker collected three hits and drove in four runs to spark Houston to a 9-6 victory against Seattle. George Springer and Jose Altuve each plated two runs for the Astros, who are a game above .500 overall.

Thirty-six year old righty Zach Greinke (0-0 8.10 ERA) will head to the hill for the Astros in this contest. In his first start, Greinke gave up three runs in four plus innings during a surprising 7-6 home loss versus Seattle.

The Los Angeles Angels are playing without star OF Mike Trout (paternity) and have lost six of their first eight games. Last night, nine Los Angeles pitchers combined to allow 12 hits and issue seven walks. OF Brian Goodwin tripled, went deep, and drove in three runs for the Angels in a losing effort.

Los Angeles skipper Joe Maddon will give the nod to righty Griffin Canning (0-1 5.79 ERA) on Saturday. Last time out, Canning allowed four hits and three runs in four plus innings during a 3-0 road loss against Oakland.

Houston SP Justin Verlander has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right forearm strain and could be out until September. Through seven games, Houston ranks 12th in OPS and 10th in runs scored. Los Angeles counters with an offense that ranks 16th in OPS and tied 11th in runs scored. Take the Angels to steal one as a nicely priced underdog. Final Score Prediction, Los Angeles Angels 6-4.
