The struggling Arizona Diamondbacks will continue a series on the road at Oracle Park against the San Francisco Giants. Arizona has lost their last ten games and continues to drop further down the NL West standings, dropping 20.5 games back of the Giants in the NL West. The Giants have won six of their last ten games, but hold a slim lead over the Dodgers in the NL West, at 40-25 on the year.

The Giants haven’t been the most impressive offense in the MLB this season hitting .230 as a team, which ranks 24th in team-batting average, and are 10th in scoring offense averaging 4.67 runs per game. Veterans like shortstop Brandon Crawford have stepped up this season in a big way, he leads the team with 14 home runs and 41 RBIs, and third baseman Evan Longoria is hitting .280 with 9 home runs and 30 RBIs.

San Francisco has not "officially" announced a starter yet for this contest, but in theory, it would be Anthony DeSclafani's turn in the rotation. He continues to be a solid piece in the rotation going 6-2 with a 3.09 ERA this season, one of the best starts to a season in his career.

Arizona comes in hitting .232 as a team and scoring 4.23 runs per game ranking 20th and 18th in the league but continues to be one of the worst teams in the MLB. The pitching staff has been ransacked with injuries, with three starters on the 10-day IL, and have not announced a starter for this contest yet.

They’re isn’t a lot of star-power in the Diamondbacks lineup and third baseman Eduardo Escobar is leading the way for the D-Backs with team-highs in home runs with 15 and RBIs with 43 while hitting .240. First baseman Pavin Smith is just 25-years-old and in his first full season at the big league level, but is hitting a team-high .288 with 5 home runs and 22 RBIs. They’ve produced as well as they can, but the Diamondbacks just don’t have a lot of firepower in the midst of a rebuild.

With neither team having announced a starter yet, we just have to assume that the bullpens will be heavily involved and ride with the better offense, bullpen and starting pitching. The Giants may have been a surprise to a lot of people this season, but they’ve consistently held onto first place in the NL West. With three injuries to the Diamondbacks starting rotation, they’re really going to have to dig deep into the bottom and the Giants are able to make them pay on the way to a win. Final score prediction, Giants win 5-4.
