Petco Park in San Diego, CA will welcome the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday night for a game against the San Diego Padres. Arizona comes into Wednesday as one of the hotter teams in all of baseball after winning four of the last five games played including a 5-0 win over San Diego to open this series. Ryne Nelson took the mound for Arizona in game one of this series giving up no runs on four hits across 7 innings of work to pick up the victory.

Offensively Arizona did just enough from the plate with seven hits in 32 at bats but came up with two hits with runners in scoring position to drive in five runs. Alek Thomas and Christian Walker did most of the Arizona damage driving in two runs apiece.

The San Diego Padres have been up and down all summer coming into Wednesday 12 games above .500 chasing a playoff berth. Blake Snell took the mound in game one of this series giving up one run on four hits across six innings leading to the loss. The San Diego bullpen was abysmal as well allowing four more runs on three hits over the final three innings. 

Manny Machado has completely carried the San Diego offense this season leading the team with a .302 batting average to go along with a team high 146 hits. While hitting for an elite average Machado also leads San Diego with 26 home runs and 88 RBI's, while Trent Grisham is second best on the team with 16 long balls as well.
