The Saturday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Chicago Cubs from Wrigley Field. The Diamondbacks (30-69) have lost 39 of their 50 road games and own the worst overall record in the majors. On Friday, Arizona SP Zac Gallen was roughed up for seven runs four innings during an 8-3 road loss against Chicago.

Thirty-two year old right-hander Merrill Kelly (6-7 4.46 ERA) will take the mound for the Diamondbacks in this matchup. Last time out, Kelly lasted eight innings and gave up four runs during a 6-4 home victory versus Chicago.

The Chicago Cubs are 12 games above .500 at home and are 8.5 games off the pace in the NL Central Division race. During yesterday’s easy victory, C Robinson Chrinos homered twice and SS Javier Baez started the scoring with a three-run blast. SP Zach Davies (6-6) allowed two runs over five plus innings to earn the win for the Cubs (48-50).

Chicago manager David Ross will give the nod to right-hander Alec Mills (4-3 4.64 ERA) on Saturday. Last time out, Mills was tagged for five runs (1 ER)  in four innings during an 8-3 road loss against St. Louis.
