Target Field will play host to a Saturday afternoon matchup between the Los Angeles Angels and Minnesota Twins. Last night, Ian Kinsler hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning to put the Angels ahead for good during a 4-2 road triumph against the Twins. Los Angeles has won five straight games and trail Seattle by 4.5 games for the AL West Division lead.
Twenty-six year old southpaw Tyler Skaggs (4-4 3.27 ERA) will make his 13th start of the season for the Angels. In his last start, Skaggs gave up just four hits in six scoreless frames during a 3-1 victory versus Texas.
The Minnesota Twins have dropped three of their last four games and need to get things turned around to stay in contention in the AL Central Division race. On Friday, SP Lance Lynn struck out seven batters and allowed just one run over six frames. Robbie Grossman hit a solo shot for the Twins, who trail Cleveland by 5.5 games for first place.
Minnesota skipper Paul Molitor will turn to right-hander Kyle Gibson (1-3 3.54 ERA) on Saturday. Through 68 plus innings, Gibson has struck out 73 batters and owns a 1.21 WHIP.
