In Thursday afternoon MLB action, the Los Angeles Angels and Toronto Blue Jays will wrap up their series from the Rogers Centre. Last night, Los Angeles rallied for four runs in the top of the ninth inning to score a 5-4 victory. Shohei Ohtani tied the game with a two-run single and Andrelton Simmons followed with a two-run single of his own to give the Angels a 5-3 lead.
Twenty-seven year old righty Nick Tropeano (1-3 4.45 ERA) will get the nod for the Angels in this contest. Through 32 plus innings this season, Tropeano has allowed 15 walks and five home runs.
The Toronto Blue Jays snapped a four-game losing streak with a series opening win on Tuesday, but blew a big opportunity last night. Tyler Clippard (4-2) recorded just one out and was charged with all four runs in the pivotal ninth inning. Yandervis Solarte homered and drove in two runs for the Blue Jays, who fell to three games below .500 overall with the loss.
The Blue Jays will counter with thirty-four year old righty Marco Estrada (2-4 5.15 ERA) on Thursday. Estrada is winless in his last five starts and has allowed 16 runs over his last 28 plus frames.
