Angels at Athletics 3/28/19 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Angels are opening their season up against the Athletics who have already played 2 games on the year. The Angels finished out their Spring Training schedule by getting only a single win against the Dodgers in what ended up being a 3game set. What could help the Angels out here is going to be how productive Mike Trout will before the team as they invested heavily in him this year and he does have some support, but the team seems to have pinned all their hopes on Trout showing up huge.

Trevor Cahill is the pitcher the Angels are planning on sending out to the mound in this game. Cahill will be facing his former team in this game and Cahill does have some decent career numbers. Trevor Cahill has been able to post an 80-83 record, struck out 1007 batters, but also has a 4.08 ERA in his career. The Athletics for their part are coming in with a disjointed Spring Training. The Athletics managed to play some of their normal games, but then had a 2 game detour to Japan to open the season. Sadly for the Athletics the 2 game detour against the Mariners was not really worth it as the team dropped the games. After returning back to the states, the Mariners were able to pick up a 3game Spring Training sweep of the Giants.

Mike Fiers is the pitcher who is getting the nod in this game here against the Angels. Fiers has already thrown on the year against the Mariners and he was absolutely dismal in that game. Fiers only lasted 3 innings before being pulled in the game as he allowed 5 earned runs, a homer, and only struck out 3 batters in his loss.
