WVU at Oklahoma 10/19/19 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The West Virginia Mountaineers visit Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma on Saturday for a Big 12 showdown with the No. 6 ranked Oklahoma Sooners. West Virginia fell to 3-3 on the season following its 38-14 loss to the Iowa State Cyclones. The Mountaineers were tied at the half, but outscored 24-0 during the second half. West Virginia lost starting quarterback Austin Kendall to an injury in West Virginia’s first series. 

Oklahoma improved to 6-0 on the season with a 34-27 victory over Texas. Jalen Hurts tossed threw touchdown passes with all three to CeeDee Lamb and the Sooners defense came up big when needed sacking Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger nine times in the battle of ranked teams. Hurts passed for 235 yards and also rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown. 

Mountaineers quarterback Austin Kendall has 1,247 yards passing, nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. Kennedy McKoy is the leading rusher with 187 yards and three touchdowns. Sam Jones is the leading receiver with 359 yards and two touchdowns. The leading tackler for West Virginia is Josh Chandler with 45.

Jalen Hurts leads the Sooners in passing with 1,758 yards, 17 touchdowns and three interceptions, as well as in rushing with 630 yards and eight touchdowns. CeeDee Lamb leads all Sooners’ receivers with 610 yards and 10 touchdowns. Kenneth Murray leads the Sooners in tackles with 42.

Oklahoma has much more talent top to bottom than West Virginia. Jalen Hurts has turned into a passing, running and scoring machine leading the Sooners in both passing yards and rushing yards, while accounting for 25 touchdowns in just six games. Austin Kendall went down injured for West Virginia and his status is not yet known for next week but chances are if he plays he will not be 100%.
