On Saturday, the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers play the Georgia State Panthers in the Lending Tree Bowl at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama. Western Kentucky finished its regular season 5-6 overall and 4-3 in the Conference USA. The Hilltoppers were third in the East division of the C-USA. Georgia State won each of its final two games of the regular season including a 30-24 victory over in-state rival Georgia Southern in the final game of the regular season. The only loss for the Panthers over the final four games of the regular season was a 17-13 setback at the hands of Appalachian State.

Quarterback Cornelious Brown IV has passed for 2,046 yards, 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions. During the season, Brown was sacked 11 times. The leading rusher for Georgia State is Destin Coates with 652 yards and six touchdowns and the leading receiver is Sam Pinckney with 753 yards and six touchdowns. On defense, the leading tackler is linebacker Blake Carol with 72 and the leader in quarterback sacks is linebacker Jordan Strachan with 9.5.

Western Kentucky suffered losses during the season to BYU, Liberty and Louisville but has won each of its last three and is allowing an average of just 24.1 points per game and led the Conference USA in pass defense allowing just 170.1 yards per game. The Hilltoppers pass defense will look to contain the Georgia State offense led by quarterback Cornelius Brown and limit the number of yards passing by the Georgia State QB.
