Western Kentucky at UAB 10/17/20 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers are set to visit Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama for a C-USA clash against the UAB Blazers. The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers come into this matchup with a 1-3 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent home game against the Marshall Thundering Herd, 38-14. QB Kevaris Thomas had a solid game off the bench for the Hilltoppers as he threw for 148 yards and 1 TD while also adding in a rushing TD. Sophomore WR Dayton Wade was the top target for Thomas and the Hilltoppers as he hauled in 8 catches for 58 yards.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the Marshall Thundering Herd as they allowed them to score 38 points and rack up a total of 344 yards of offense. Senior DB Devon Key led the way for the Western Kentucky defense with 10 tackles. The Hilltoppers were able to get into the Marshall backfield a handful of times as DeAngelo Malone, Eli Brown, and Damon Lowe all record TFLs.

The UAB Blazers come into this matchup with a 3-1 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the UTSA Roadrunners, 21-13. QB Bryson Lucero struggled to find much consistency through the air for the Blazers as he connected on 18 of his 29 pass attempts for 195 yards, 3 TDs, and 3 interceptions. RB Spencer Brown had a productive game on the ground for UAB as he ran for 144 yards on 26 carries.

The UAB Blazers were very good on the defensive side of the ball against the UTSA Roadrunners as they held them to 13 points and a total of 280 yards of offense. Safety Will Boler led the way for the UAB defense with 8 tackles and 1 TFL. The defensive line had a productive outing for the Blazers as Michael Fairbanks II had an interception while they recorded 4 sacks and 9 TFL as a team.

The UAB Blazers have been solid this season as they are 3-1 with their lone loss against the Miami Hurricanes, but the same can’t be said about the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers as they are currently sitting at 1-3. The Blazers have gone with Bryson Lucero under center and he has been solid with 6 TD passes, but he isn’t the main reason behind the offensive success as RB Spencer Brown has ran for 450 yards and 5 TDs. The Hilltoppers have struggled on the defensive side of the ball at times this season as Marshall scored 38 points while Liberty and Louisville have both scored over 30 points as well. UAB has had 2 weeks to prepare for the Hilltoppers, and they will be ready to play on their homefield. Final Score Prediction, UAB Blazers win and cover ATS 28-10.
