Louisville is 1-1 in the post-Lamar Jackson era and may have found their replacement in game two last weekend. the Cardinals host in-state rival Western Kentucky this week. It has been 20 years since these teams played each other.

Louisville was blown out in its opener against Alabama, and struggled early before beating Indiana State soundly. There were a lot of weather delays, but in the second half Malik Cunningham took over at quarterback and the Cardinals rolled from that point. Cunningham led four scoring drives in the second half, with 54 yards rushing, and completing six of seven passes for 75 yards. He replaced Jawon Pass, who had two touchdown passes and four interceptions over the first two games. Louisville coaches have not said who will start at quarterback this weekend. Western Kentucky won 11 games in 2016 and got off to a 5-2 start last year. The Hilltoppers have lost two this year and lost five of the last six a year ago. It was not too surprising that the Hilltoppers were beaten soundly by Wisconsin in the opener, but the team also lost last week to Maine by three points. That 31-28 loss stung, even more, considering Western Kentucky led 21-0 in the first quarter.

Senior quarterback Drew Eckles passed for 347 yards and three touchdowns. The Hilltoppers had just 42 yards rushing against Maine. He threw for 167 yards against Wisconsin. The Hilltoppers have managed 166 yards rushing in two games. Garland LeFrance leads the team with 37 yards. he also has 103 yards receiving.

This Hilltoppers team is not a good team but Louisville has not been nearly as good as expected and think laying 3 plus touchdowns is just too many. Grab the ton of points as Western Kentucky does just enough to cover this spread. Final Score Prediction, Louisville Cardinals win but fall short ATS 36-16.
