The West Virginia Mountaineers will take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers on December 28th for a match up in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. West Virginia finished the season on a two game win streak to gain eligibility into bowl season with a 6-6 overall record. The West Virginia offense led the way for the Mountaineers in the final game of the season against Kansas totaling 436 yards of offense to score 34 points in the game.
Quarterback Jarret Doege led the way for the West Virginia offense completing 16 of 21 passes for 170 yards and three scores. As a team West Virginia ran the ball 50 times for 261 yards and one score. Leddie Brown was the leading ball carrier in the game with 156 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries, while Tony Mathis Jr. added 22 carries for 118 yards.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers ended their season on a high note finishing with an 8-4 record overall after a 10 point win against the #14 ranked Wisconsin Badgers. The Minnesota defense carried the load to the win holding Wisconsin to only 233 yards of offense and 13 points including three in the second half.
Offensively Minnesota has played well thus far this season averaging 26.1 points on 360.3 yards per game. Tanner Morgan has run the show for Minnesota from the quarterback position completing 141 passes for 1935 yards and 10 scores. Ky Thomas Leaves the Minnesota rushing attack with 680 yards and five scores on 145 carries.
