Wake Forest vs Rutgers 12/31/21 - TaxSlayer Gator Bowl Picks & Predictions

In the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl Wake Forest Demon Deacons will face off against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights for a 11 AM Eastern time kick off on New Year's eve. This game will be available on the ESPN network. Wake Forest comes into this game with a record on the season of 10–3 and are ranked number 17 in the country. Wakes last game was against Pittsburgh in a losing effort in the ACC championship game by the score of 45–21. Pittsburgh was ranked number 15 in the nation.

Rutgers comes into this game replacing Texas A&M with a record on the season of 5–7, they are losers of their last two consecutive games against Maryland by the score of 40-16, and on the road against Penn State by the score of 28–0. The last victory for Rutgers came against Indiana on the road back in early November by the score of 38–3.

Sam Hartman is leading the demon deacons in passing with 3924 yards and 36 touchdowns. Hartman has 14 interceptions on the season. Christian Smith is leading the team in rushing at 581 yards to go along with seven touchdowns on the season on 123 carries. AT Perry is leading the team in receiving yards at 1,166 to go along with 14 touchdowns and 61 receptions this season.

Noah Vedral is leading Rutgers in passing with 1726 yards. Noah only has seven touchdown passes on the season and six interceptions. Isaih Pacheco is leading Rutgers in rushing with 647 yards and five touchdowns this season. In receiving, Bo Melton, a senior from New Jersey is leading the team with 618 yards and three touchdowns.

Wake forest has one of the highest scoring offenses in all of college football averaging 41.2 points per game on the season. Week allows 30 points per game as a team which is not fantastic however, Rutgers is only scoring on average 20.5 points per game. I do see Wake coming away with an easy high-scoring win. Wake Forest wins 52-28.
