The VMI Keydets open the 2022 regular season on the road looking to improve from their 6-5 record from a year ago. The Keydets started the year strong at 6-2 overall but lost the last 3 games of the year including a 52-24 blowout to ECU in the final game of the regular season. Quarterback Seth Morgan struggled immensely in the final game of the year completing 23 of 47 passes for 205 yards and 2 scores but threw 3 interceptions as well.

Rashad Raymond led the way for the Keydets on the ground with 105 yards rushing on 19 carries. Aidan Twombly proved to be the primary target for VMI accumulating 88 yards and 1 touchdown on 8 catches, while Leroy Thomas added 65 yards receiving and 11 score.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons come into the 2022 season after exploding on the national scene a year ago finishing the year 11-3 overall and spent time in the nations top 10. The 2022 season for the Demon Deacons will again be led by quarterback Sam Hartman who brings a host of experience to the field. Hartman threw for over 4,200 yards last year and will have several key weapons around him.

A.T. Perry returns to the field for Wake this year as Hartmans favorite target from a year ago after hauling in 71 catches in 2021. Donovan Greene will return to action this year for the Demon Deacons after missing 2021 due to injury and will give Hartman an elite 1-2 punch at reciever. Wake will rely on a 2 back set this year after losing Christian Beal-Smith in the offseason. Justice Ellison and Christian Turner will split time in the backfield after both ran for 500+ yards last season.

Wake Forest comes into the 2022 season with far too much talent and depth for VMI to keep up with. Week 1 of the season has all the signs of a blowout and the Demon Deacons will do just that. Look for Wake Forest to come into the year motivated and jump out early on the Keydets leading to a blow out win. Take Wake Forest on September 1st to win and cover. Final Score Prediction, Wake Forest wins and covers 52-3.
