Bronco Mendenhall came east to Charlottesville two years ago bound and determined to turn around the Virginia football program and create a winning culture on a campus accustomed to mediocrity, if not downright ineptitude, on the gridiron each fall. It's too early to tell whether Mendenhall is a miracle worker but the Cavaliers appear to be on the upswing, opening the 2018 season by polishing off in-state rival Richmond 42-13. Now the Cavs head to Indiana to face another historically bad FBS program, the Hoosiers, who squeaked past Florida International 38-28 in the opening week.

Virginia quarterback Bryce Perkins completed 13 of 24 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns and a interception in the opener. The balanced offense churned out 492 yards - including 301 on the ground. Jordan Ellis carried 20 times for 146 yards and a TD. Olamide Zaccheaus caught six passes for 101 yards and a TD. Virginia's run defense was stout, holding the Spiders to 34 yards. Virginia's last winning season occurred in 2011 when it went 8-5 and played in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.
Indiana QB Peyton Ramsey stepped up for the Hoosiers, completing 20 of 27 passes for 156 yards with three touchdowns. Stevie Scott carried 20 times for 70 yards while Donavan Hale caught four passes for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Hoosiers have had one winning season since 1994 and that was a 7-6 record in 2007 under coach Bill Lynch. The Hoosiers current leader, Tom Allen is 6-7 in two seasons on the sidelines.

The Cavaliers should be favored in this one but we will happily take Virginia and the points. Coach Mendenhall had big turn around year in 2017 and now takes another step forward in 2018. Final Score Prediction, Virginia Cavaliers win outright as underdog but take the points just in case 26-22.
