Vanderbilt vs Georgia State Picks and Prediction – 9/14/2024

The Commodores have looked amazing two games into the season, opening the year with a 34-27 victory over Virginia Tech, followed by a whopping 55-0 win over Alcorn State. Vanderbilt may have turned a page after going just 2-10 last season, they will have the opportunity to start the year with a 3-0 record. The Commodores need to remain focused on the defensive side of things, as they allowed 36.2 points a game in 2023.

The Georgia State Panthers have split their first two games, as they head home with a 1-1 record. The Panthers would suffer a 35-12 loss against Georgia Tech in week 1, followed by a 24-21 bounce back win over Chattanooga. Panthers’ quarterback Christian Veilleux has been great through two games, as he threw for 238 yards and 2 touchdowns against Chattanooga. In 2023 the Panthers put together a 7-6 record and would end up winning the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, led by their high scoring offense at over 27 points a game.

The Panthers are hoping a win over Chattanooga will fuel this squad, while Vanderbilt has the tough challenge of going 3-0 with a win on the road. With two solid  offenses, scoring won’t be the deciding factor, as the stronger defense will likely be the difference. Vanderbilt’s defensive adjustments have been impressive thus far, expect for this to continue. Final score prediction, Commodores win but the play is on the over 32-24.
