Vanderbilt at Colorado State 9/11/21 - NCAA Football Picks & Predictions

Vanderbilt lost to in-state FCS school East Tennessee State, and now has a date at Colorado State, which should be even tougher competition. Vanderbilt was 0-9 last year and their current losing streak is at 11. Colorado State also lost its opener to an FCS school, but it lost to top-10 team South Dakota State. The Rams were 1-3 last year and 4-8 in 2019. Colorado State is 1-7 over the last eight games.

Colorado State has a lot of experienced players and feels it has a chance to be a bowl team this year. Todd Centeio passed for 304 yards with one touchdown and no picks. Centeio completed 69 percent of his passes after being benched late last season after completing 39 percent.

Colorado State was held to 124 yards rushing on 40 attempts. Colorado State gave up 224 yards passing with two touchdowns. They also gave up 242 yards rushing and four touchdowns. The total yardage was almost identical, with SDSU holding a 466-462 edge.

Vanderbilt lost 23-3 and the score could have been worse. Three times East Tennessee settled for field goals at the end of drives. Vanderbilt also had one of its three turnovers returned for a touchdown. The total yardage was about even, with Vanderbilt holding a 321-314 edge.

About the only bright spot for Vanderbilt was kicker Joseph Bulova making a 53-yard field goal. Vanderbilt quarterback Ken Seals passed for 195 yards with two interceptions. The Commodores were held to 85 yards rushing on 31 carries with one fumble lost.
