UTSA at Texas 9/17/22 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The UTSA Roadrunners visit DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas on Saturday to play the Texas Longhorns. UTSA improved to 1-1 following its 41-38 overtime victory against Army on Saturday. Frank Harris passed for 359 yards with three touchdowns including a game-winning touchdown pass to JT Clark during overtime. UTSA lost to Houston in the opening game of the season 37-35.

UTSA quarterback Frank Harris has passed for 696 yards with six touchdowns and one interception. The leading rusher is Harris with 93 yards and one touchdown, while the leading receiver is Zakhari Franklin with 222 yards and two touchdown receptions. On defense, linebacker Darian Taylor is the leading tackler with 22, while the leader in quarterback sacks is lineman Brandon Brown with 2.0 and UTSA has yet to intercept a pass.

Texas dropped to 1-1 following its 20-19 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. Texas led by three points entering the fourth quarter but could not hold off the Tide and a field goal with 10 seconds to play was the difference, sending Texas to the loss. Texas gained 371 yards of total offense and the Longhorns held the potent Alabama attack to only 374 yards of total offense.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers has passed for 359 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. The leading rusher is Bijan Robinson with 128 yards and two touchdowns, while the leading receiver is Xavier Worthy with 121 yards. Linebacker Demarvion Overshown is the leading tackler with 13, while the leader in quarterback sacks is defensive end Barryn Sorrell with 2.0. Defensive back D’Shawn Jamison has the only interception for Texas.

The Texas Longhorns are coming off a disappointing one-point loss to Alabama and that could have a slight effect on how well they play at home again this week against UTSA. The Roadrunners have an excellent quarterback in Frank Harris and although he will be facing a very tough Longhorns defense, Harris should be able to keep the Roadrunners close enough to cover the double-digit spread on Saturday. Final Score Prediction, Texas Longhorns win but fall short ATS 31-21.
