UTEP at New Mexico 9/17/22 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The UTEP Miners visit University Stadium in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Saturday to play the New Mexico Lobos. UTEP improved to 1-2 following its 20-13 victory at home over New Mexico State on Saturday. UTEP gained 274 yards of total offense and turned the ball over twice, while allowing New Mexico State 298 yards of total offense but forced three turnovers by the Aggies. Utah quarterback Gavin Hardison passed for 166 yards with one touchdown.

Gavin Hardison has passed for 703 yards with two touchdowns, while the leading rusher is Ronald Awatt with 190 yards and two touchdowns. Tyrin Smith is the leading receiver with 262 yards and two touchdown receptions. On defense, linebacker Tyrice Knight and safety Kobe Hylton are the leading tacklers with 23 each. UTEP has three quarterback sacks and one interception. 

New Mexico is 1-1 following its 31-14 loss at home on Friday night to the Boise State Broncos. New Mexico opened its regular season with a 41-0 victory over the Maine Black Bears. In Friday's loss to Boise State, New Mexico was held to just 123 yards of total offense, while the Lobos defense gave up 318 yards of total offense to the Broncos. Christian Washington ran back a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown for one of two Lobos scores.

New Mexico quarterback Miles Kendrick has passed for 268 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Sherod White is the leading rusher with 80 yards and two touchdowns, while the leading receiver is Geordon Porter with 127 yards and two touchdown receptions. On defense, safety Jerrick Reed II is the leading tackler with 19 and linebacker Cody Moon is the leader in quarterback sacks with 1.5. Safety Ronald Wilson has two interceptions to lead the Lobos.

UTEP won its first game of the season this past weekend when defeating New Mexico State and will pick up its second victory of the season on the road versus New Mexico on Saturday. New Mexico has failed to cover the number in 12 of its last 14 overall, while UTEP has covered the number in four of the last five head-to-head against New Mexico.
