UConn at Utah State 8/27/22 - College Football Picks & Predictions

In Saturday afternoon college football action, the UConn Huskies will travel to Maverik Stadium to take on the Utah State Aggies. The Huskies (1-11) have lost 50 of their previous 60 games and are arguably the worst program in the nation. First year head coach Jim Mora Jr. is tasked with a major rebuilding effort for UConn, who was gashed for 452.8 yards and surrendered 38.5 points per game a season ago.

Penn State QB Ta’Quan Roberson will lead a UConn offense that returns leading WR Keelan Marion (5 TD). RB Nate Carter (578 yds) will run behind a reshaped offensive line featuring a number of transfers.

The Utah State Aggies had a remarkable turnaround season in 2021 and are the defending Mountain West Conference Champions. Second year head coach Blake Anderson led the Aggies to an 11-3 record and ranked in the top 20 in total offense (452.2 ypg). QB Logan Bonner (36 TD) came over from Arkansas State with Anderson and threw for 3,628 yards.

Utah State is less talented on the defensive side of the ball (391 ypg), but did tighten up in the red zone (25.3 ppg). DE Byron Vaughns (4 sacks) was the Mountain West Conference Championship Game and returns to anchor the defensive line.

UConn has been one of the worst defensive teams in the country over the last five seasons. Utah State finished eighth in the nation in tempo and they will have their foot on the gas on opening weekend. Take the over. Final Score Prediction, Utah State Aggies win 48-20.
