UConn at Utah State 8/27/22 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The UConn Huskies come into the 2022 regular season looking to turn over a new leaf after another abysmal year in 2021. The Huskies finished the year 1-11 overall with the 2nd worst offense in the entire nation. This offseason UConn hired head coach Jim Mora Jr. in an effort to right the wrongs and turn the program around.

Offensively this year UConn will give the keys to Penn State transfer Ta'Quan Robertson.Robertson has been shaky through the first part of his college career but has the talent and ability to turn things around this season for the Huskies. The primary target in the UConn offense this season will be Keelan Marion this season after he accumulated 5 receiving touchdowns a year ago. Aaron Turner and Kevens Clercius will make a big splash within the UConn offense this year as well, while Cameron Ross will return to the field after playing just two total games since 2019.

Defensively UConn was abysmal as well last year but now will use an older more experienced group to turn the tables in 2022. Jackson Mitchell was the UConn leading tackler last year and will again be on the field expected to lead the team this season. UConn will also add a few key transfers to boost up the defensive strength.

The Utah State Aggies come into the 2022 season looking to repeat their success from a year ago after finishing 11-3 in 2021. Utah State shined a year ago on the offensive side of the ball under their new coaching staff as the Aggies averaged 446 yards of offense and 33 points per game.

Offensively Utah State was dominant with one of the best passing attacks in the nation led by quarterback Logan Bonner who threw 36 passing touchdowns a year ago. Bonner will again be under center this season with transfer Levi Williams seeing time as well at the quarterback position. Brandon Bowling and Deven Thompkins will be the primary targets in the Utah State passing attack, while a few other receivers and a transfer will make an immediate impact as well.

Defensively Utah State struggled a year ago as the Aggies allowed nearly 400 yards per game and put the offense in a tough spot more than once. Utah State lost several players in the transfer portal but gained a few in the portal as well who will step into immediate roles this season. Utah State will use a variety of talent and depth to improve their defense from a year ago.
