The University of Connecticut Huskies visit Albertson’s Stadium on Saturday to play the Boise State Broncos in Week 2 of the college football regular season.

UConn was routed in its opener on Thursday falling to the UCF Knights 56-17. The only positive UConn could take from the loss was the play of quarterback David Pindell, who threw for 266 yards and one touchdown while rushing for 157 yards and one TD. UConn is loaded with freshmen and sophomores including 12 that saw action for the first time.

Brett Rypien led Boise State to a 56-20 blowout win over Troy on Saturday night in the opening game of the season for the Broncos. Rypien threw for 305 yards and four TDs. Sean Modster was on the receiving end of 167 yards of Rypien’s passes, while cornerback Tyler Horne returned a pair of fumbles in the second half for touchdowns of 55 and 11 yards. UConn quarterback David Pindell leads the team in passing with 266 yards and one touchdown. The dual-threat single caller is also the leading rusher for the Huskies with 157 yards. Kevin Mensah is the second leading rusher for UConn with 59 yards. Kyle Buss leads the Huskies in receiving with 113 yards.

Quarterback Brett Rypien leads the Broncos with 305 yards passing and four touchdowns. Alexander Mattison is the leading rusher with 56 yards and one touchdown, while Chase Cord has 44 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown. Boise State receiver Sean Modster leads the team in receiving with 167 yards and two touchdowns, while CT Thomas has 68 yards and one touchdown.

The question is not if Boise State will win, but at what time will the coaching staff shutdown the offense. The Broncos have nearly a 5-touchdown nut to crack, but will be at home and have Brett Rypien under center. If Rypien is allowed to let it fly well into the third quarter, the Broncos will cover easily. That is likely to happen, lay the points and go with the Blue and Orange. Final Score Prediction, Boise State Broncos win and cover ATS 54-14.
