An in-state college football clash will take place on Saturday afternoon, when the Tulsa Golden Hurricane invade Boone Pickens Stadium to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Tulsa is led by 6th year head coach Philip Montgomery, who led his team to a disappointing 4-8 mark a season ago. QB Zack Smith returns after throwing for 3,300 yards and 19 touchdowns last year.

Defense is the key area that needs to improve for Tulsa to become bowl eligible. Last season, the Golden Hurricane allowed 395 yards of total offense and lost all five games in which they surrendered at least 31 points.

The 11th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys come in to the 2020 campaign with major expectations and have the talent to push for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Much of the excitement in Stillwater is centered around RB Chuba Hubbard, who rushed for 2,094 yards a year ago. WR Tylan Wallace is one of the most dynamic playmakers in college football and is healthy after injuring his knee late last season.

Unlike many of the schools in the Big 12 Conference, Oklahoma State takes pride in their defense. Under defensive coordinator Jim Knowles the Cowboys improved from 80th to 37th in defensive efficiency.

Oklahoma State has won seven straight meetings in this series by an average of nearly 25 points. This one is a mismatch and I look for the Cowboys to start the season with a statement victory. Tulsa just doesn't have speed to stay with Oklahoma State. Final Score Prediction, Oklahoma State Cowboys win and cover ATS 48-17.
