Top Five Running Back Recruits for 2020 - College Football Picks, Betting Odds, & Predictions

Although college football has become more of a wide-open passing game on offense the running game remains very important for offenses in order to help keep the opposing defenses off balance, wear down the opposition and eat up the clock.  Across the nation, high school running backs have committed to where they will play in 2020 as freshman at the next level.

Bijan Robinson is the No. 1 running back recruit in the class of 2020. Robinson is 6-foot and weighs 200 pounds, has a lean frame, excellent vision and is patient behind the line of scrimmage waiting for his blockers to align. Robinson has been compared to NFL running back Alvin Kamara with the New Orleans Saints. Robinson’s speed gives the talented back the ability to score from anywhere on the field and solid hand and eye coordination makes Robinson an excellent pass receiver out of the backfield. Robinson has committed to the Texas Longhorns

Zachary Evans is considered the second best running back at the high school level in the nation. Evans is 5-foot-11 and weighs 200. The running back has a prototype frame and size and although speed will be the back’s number one asset, adding weight will make Evans that much more difficult to stop when running between the tackles. Evans is known for an excellent start-stop-start ability and a precision hesitation stutter. Evans has yet to commit to any school but the front runners are Georgia and Texas A&M.

Demarkcus Bowman has a compact, short and muscular build that will give the 5-foot-9 191-pound back the ability to not only run between the tackles but on the outside making Bowman not only an every down workhorse but a home run threat on every play. Bowman comes up big when it counts evidenced by 220 yards rushing in the Florida High School state title game in 2018. Bowman has 4.5 speed and a very strong lower body that will help finish runs. Bowman has committed to the Clemson Tigers.

Cartavious “Tank” Bigsby is a 6-foot 210-pound power back from Georgia. Bigsby will not have to add any significant weight to his frame, as he already has the size to play college football. Quick feet give Bixby the ability to make subtle cuts to set up opposing defenders and 4.5 speed makes Bigsby a threat to score from anywhere on the playing field. Tank has committed to playing for the Auburn Tigers.

MarShawn Lloyd is considered the fifth best running back recruit in the nation. The 5-foot-9 211-pound Lloyd has what is considered the ideal frame for a running back and possesses strength to play at the college level. The physical and powerful runner is able to hit holes quickly and change direction on a dime. Lloyd uses a stiff arm very well to his advantage against opposing defenders and is hard to tackle behind the line of scrimmage. In addition, the back’s pass receiving ability is well above average. Lloyd has committed to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
