Texas vs Colorado 12/29/20 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The Texas Longhorns and Colorado Buffaloes are set to visit the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas for a matchup in the Valero Alamo Bowl. The Texas Longhorns come into this matchup with a 6-3 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent road game against the Kansas State Wildcats, 69-31. QB Sam Ehlinger had an efficient game through the air for Texas as he connected on 20 of his 27 pass attempts for 274 yards and 2 TDs. The ground game was strong for the Longhorns as RB Bljan Robinson ran for 172 yards and 3 TDs while RB Roschon Johnson had 139 yards and 3 TDs.

The Texas Longhorns struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the Kansas State Wildcats as they allowed them to score 31 points and rack up a total of 448 yards of offense. DB Chris Brown led the way for the Texas defense with 12 tackles. The secondary had a productive outing for the Longhorns as DB Jerrin Thompson hauled in an interception while DB D’Shawn Jamison had 4 tackles and a pass breakup.

The Colorado Buffaloes come into this matchup with a 4-1 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent home game against the Utah Utes, 38-21. QB Sam Noyer had a solid game through the air for Colorado as he threw for 258 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 interception. WR Brenden Rice had a big game for the Buffaloes as he had a 61-yard TD reception while also returning a punt for a TD.

The Colorado Buffaloes struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the Utah Utes as they allowed them to score 38 points and rack up a total of 432 yards of offense. LB Akil Jones led the way for the Colorado defense with 10 tackles and 2 TFLs. The Buffaloes were able to get into the Utah backfield a handful of times as LB Carson Wells had 3 TFLs and 1 sack while DE Mustafa Johnson pitched in 1.5 TFLs.

The Texas Longhorns were unable to get QB Sam Ehlinger a Big 12 championship in his legendary career, but they have been very good in bowl games under Tom Herman as they are 3-0. The Longhorns were able to show their explosive offense in their recent game as they put 69 points on the Kansas State Wildcats, and they did most of the damage on the ground as they compiled 334 yards and scored 7 TDs. The Colorado Buffaloes showed improvement as a program as they went 4-1, but the Pac-12 has been a disaster this season and we haven’t seen the Buffs play anyone out of conference. Texas will look to send Ehlinger out on a high-note, and I expect him to put together a superhero effort in what will be his final game. Final Score Prediction, Texas Longhorns win and cover ATS 45-24.
