Texas A&M vs North Carolina 1/2/21 - NCAA Football Picks & Predictions

On Saturday January 2nd, the No. 5 ranked Texas A&M Aggies play the No. 13 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels in the Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium and Miami Gardens, Florida. Texas A&M finished its regular season 8-1 and the Aggies won each of their last seven games including a 34-13 victory over Tennessee to end the regular season. The Aggies finished second in the West division of the SEC behind Alabama.

North Carolina finished its regular season 8-3 overall and 7-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tar Heels finished fourth in the ACC. North Carolina ended its regular season with a 62-26 victory over the Miami Hurricanes. North Carolina behind the arm of quarterback Sam Howell averaged 307.5 yards passing which was 19th in the nation and the Tar Heels running game was 10th best in the nation at 249.1 yards per game.

Sam Howell passed for 3,352 yards with 27 touchdowns, six interceptions and was sacked 29 times. North Carolina had two 1,000-yard rushers as Michael Carter rushed for 1,245 yards and Javonte Williams rushed for 1,140 yards and the two combined to score 28 touchdowns. Dyami Brown was the leading receiver for North Carolina with 1,099 yards and eight touchdown receptions. On defense, linebacker Chazz Surratt was the leading tackler with 91 and tied with linebacker Tomon Fox in quarterback sacks with 6.0 each.

The play here is definitely the OVER. Texas A&M scored an average of 31.9 points per game, while North Carolina scored an average of 42.8 points per game which was sixth in the nation. The Tar Heels rushed for 249.1 yards per game and passed for 307.5 yards per game. Defenses had a hard time defending North Carolina as the Tar Heels had two 1000-yard rushers and quarterback Sam Howell threw for 29 touchdown passes.
