The Temple Owls play the Duke Blue Devils on December 27 in the Independence Bowl at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Owls finished the regular with an 8-4 record after defeating UConn the final week 57-7. Owls wide receiver Isaiah Wright scored one touchdown with a kickoff return and one on a running play helping the Owls to a 50-point rout.

Duke lost for the second straight game to end its regular season falling to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 59-7. Daniel Jones threw for 145 yards in the loss with one TD pass and one interception. Duke has now lost eight of its last nine at Wake Forest. The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 7-5 on the season.
Temple quarterback Anthony Russo has thrown for 2,335 yards, 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Ryquell Armstead has rushed for 1,098 yards and 13 touchdowns, while Ventell Bryant leads the team in receptions with 47 for 659 yards and three touchdowns.

Duke’s Daniel Jones has thrown for 2,251 yards, 17 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. The leading rusher for Duke is Deon Jackson with 806 yards and seven touchdowns, while the leading receiver is T.J. Rahming with 63 receptions for 571 yards and six touchdowns.

Temple has played very well down the stretch. The Owls won high scoring games such as 59-49 over Houston and defensive battles such as beating Cincinnati 24-17.
