Sun Belt Conference - 2021 College Football Season Preview

Date & Time: 8/13/2021, 7:08 PM UTC
Location: Sun Belt Divisional Champion
Address: Sun Belt Stadium

The Sun Belt is a conference that will not really generate any national championship threats, but they are a conference that could come in playing a lot stronger than expected. If that is the case, the Sun Belt conference could be one that pulls off some of the upsets that are going to be seen this year.

Louisiana Ragin Cajuns +125

With a 5th year senior at the quarterback position it is easy to see Louisiana repeating here. However, the Ragin Cajuns also brought in a ton of offensive transfer talent from bigger schools and now the Louisiana team has the issue that is a good problem and that is finding enough playing time for all the players who are on the roster.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers +200

The Chanticleers is bringing back 10 starters on a defense that last year ranked nationally in the top 50 in all categories. The offense for the Chanticleers does have to improve on the passing game some as it was ranked 60th last year nationwide, but the Coastal Carolina team is bringing back 9 starters and have a reliable, but new running back in the team.

Appalachian State Mountaineers +400

With the number of returning starters it is very easy to see why the Mountaineers are ranked so high. The one key position that is going to need to have some questions is Chase Brice who is coming from Clemson to quarterback the team.

Troy Trojans +1600

Will Troy find the scoring path again? The offense last year lost a full touchdown per game on the average. However, the defense for the Trojans did not do much better in the games and allowed only 2 fewer points per game than what the offense was scoring.

Georgia State Panthers +1800

Normally bringing back 11 starters is a good thing. However, the Panthers offense was only a run of the mill team last year and now brings back everyone from the team last year and that will be hard for the Panthers to overcome.

Arkansas State Red Wolves +2500

The one key position on any offense is the quarterback and for the Red Wolves that could be a problem area. The Red Wolves ended up losing half of their quarterback tandem from last season and now only have one experienced quarterback on the entire roster.

Texas State Bobcats +2500

Defensively the Bobcats looked horrible and did not really add any new talent. The Bobcats should be able to perform a little bit better offensively with some talented players coming back, but even then the Texas State team is outmatched in the game here.

Georgia Southern Eagles +3300

Did the Eagles make the right move by changing the offensive package this year and adding in a new quarterback? That is a key question and one that really is going to be challenging to answer as Justin Tomlin is a junior, but will do good at changing to the new system.

South Alabama Jaguars +5000

The Jaguars went and got a new head coach from Indiana. Now, the Jaguars have to figure out how to play good, but even then the South Alabama team is coming in with an offense that is still having to find their identity.

Louisiana Monroe Warhawks +10000

With only a single win on the season last year the Warhawks will have some more issues than expected. The Warhawks offense is bringing back only 4 starters, but the defense is not showing any improvement either and that will make it very difficult to see the Louisiana Monroe team to do any better.

Free NCAA Football Pick: Louisiana Ragin Cajuns +125

The Sun Belt has several teams that can really show up big, but the Sun Belt does not have a true national championship contender. One thing that should happen is the fact that the Sun Belt should be dominated by Louisiana Ragin Cajuns who bring home the title as the favorite. Sun Belt Winner Prediction, Louisiana Ragin Cajuns.
