Stephen F. Austin at UTSA 9/19/20 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks are set to visit Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas for a Week 3 clash against the UTSA Roadrunners. The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks come into this matchup with a 0-1 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent road game against the UTEP Miners, 24-14. Junior QB Trae Self struggled to get much going through the air for Stephen F. Austin as he connected on 14 of his 21 pass attempts for 133 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception. RB Da’Leon Ward had a solid game on the ground for the Lumberjacks as he ran for 51 yards and 1 TD on 14 carries.

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the UTEP Miners as they allowed them to score 24 points and rack up 364 yards of offense while forcing 2 turnovers. Junior LB DayDay Coleman had a productive outing for the Lumberjacks as he contributed a team-high 7 tackles and 1 TFL. Stephen F. Austin was able to get into the UTEP backfield a handful of times as freshman LB Jermaine Brown and sophomore DE Amad Murray combined for 3 TFL.

The UTSA Roadrunners come into this matchup with a 1-0 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent road game against the Texas State Bobcats, 51-48 in 2 OT. Junior QB Frank Harris had a productive outing for the Roadrunners as he connected on 23 of his 31 pass attempts for 169 yards and 1 TD while also pitching in 51 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Sophomore RB Sincere McCormick had a very good game on the ground for the Roadrunners as he ran for 197 yards and 1 TD.

The UTSA Roadrunners struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the Texas State Bobcats as they allowed them to score 48 points and rack up 472 yards of offense. Sophomore safety Rashad Wisdom had a big game for the Roadrunners as he recorded 10 tackles, 1.5 TFL, and 1 interception which he returned 81 yards for a TD. The Roadrunners were able to get into the Bobcats backfield a handful of times as senior LB Charles Wiley contributed 2.5 TFL while senior DL Jaylon Haynes pitched in 2 TFL.

The UTSA Roadrunners came out with an offensive explosion in their first game as they scored 51 points, and I expect them to continue their success against an FCS foe in Stephen F. Austin. The Roadrunners have a very good RB in Sincere McCormick as he fell just shy of 200 yards against Texas State and just shy of 1000 yards in 2019, and he should find success once again. UTSA didn’t show much on the defensive side of the ball as they let a backup QB put up 48 points, but they should be much better in this game as Stephen F. Austin was only able to score 14 points in their season opener. Frank Harris is a much improved QB from last year for the Roadrunners, and he will continue to be a problem both through the air and on the ground. Final Score Prediction, UTSA Roadrunners win and cover ATS 45-13.
