Southern Utah at Utah 9/10/22 - College Football Picks & Predictions

Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, UT will welcome the Southern Utah Thunderbirds for a week two matchup with the Utah Utes. Southern Utah comes into week two of the season 1-0 following a 31 point victory over St. Thomas Minnesota in week one. Defensively Southern Utah had issues allowing 462 yards of offense but held St. Thomas to only 13 points after forcing 4 turnovers in the game.

Offensively Southern Utah was lights out chewing up 489 yards of offense to score 44 points in the game including 24 in the second-half. Justin Miller ran the show for Southern Utah under center completing 23 of 35 passage for 364 yards and three scores in the game. Isaiah Wooden led the way for Southern Utah with 142 yards and two touchdowns on five catches and Mata’ava Ta’asa added 96 yards and one score on five catches as well.

The Utah Utes return home in week two of the regular season after a 3 point loss in Gainesville to the Florida Gators in week one. Offensively Utah moved the ball well with 446 yards of offense including 230 on the ground but committed a key turnover at the end of the game leading to the loss.

Quarterback Cameron Rising was mediocre in the game completing only 22 of 32 passes for 216 yards and one score, while running the ball seven times for 91 yards. Tavion Thomas Carried most of the Utah offense with 115 yards rushing and one score on 23 carries.
