The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles visit Rice Stadium in Houston, Texas on Saturday to play the Rice Owls. The Golden Eagles fell to 4-3 on the season following a 45-30 loss to Louisiana Tech on Saturday. Southern Miss led at the half 27-24 but gave up 21 fourth quarter points in the loss. Jack Abraham threw for 327 yards and one touchdown, but was intercepted four times.
Rice remained winless after losing to UT-San Antonio on Saturday 31-27. Rice led 24-16 in the third quarter, but UTSA tied the score before the start of the fourth quarter. The Owls were able to once again take the lead on a field goal, before the Roadrunners drove the length of the field for the winning touchdown. The Owls fell to 0-7 on the season with the loss.
Jack Abraham has thrown for 1,936 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions to lead Southern Miss. The leading rusher is De’Michael Harris with 282 yards and three touchdowns. Quez Watkins leads all receivers with 630 yards and three touchdowns. D.Q. Thomas is the leading tackler for the Golden Eagles with 51.
Wiley Green leads Rice in passing with 548 yards and four touchdowns. Aston Walter has rushed 395 yards and four touchdowns to lead Rice. Austin Trammell is the leading receiver with 397 yards and one touchdown. The leading tackler for Rice is Blaze Alldredge with 53.
