SE Louisiana at Louisiana’s 9/3/22 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The Southeast Lions will have a brutal opening game when they go on the road to Cajan Field take on the Louisana Ragin Cajuns. ULL had a fantastic season last year, after a tough opening week loss to Texas, rattled off 12 straight wins, and won the Sun Belt conference championship. SE Louisana has a solid season before losing in the second round of the FCS Championship, they finished 9-4 and gave LA Tech all they could handle.

Louisiana will be forced to replace Levi Lewis, who stated four straight years and was one of the best quarterbacks in the school history. Chandler Fields is the likely replacement, he appeared in six games completing 9 of his 13 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown last season. They’ll also have to replace key playmaker Montrell Johnson who led the team in total yards last season.

The defense was among the best not only in the Sun Belt but in the nation allowing just 18.5 points per game ranking 11th in the nation in scoring defense. They will have a new coach after Billy Napier took a job at Flordia, Michael Desourmeux will start off his career as a head coach after serving a number of assistant roles in the program.

SE Louisiana was able to put points on the board last season and scored over 30 points in all but one of their games, including a season-high 61 in a win over Houston Baptist. They’ll have to replace a quarterback, the number one receiving option, and the number one running back in an offense that didn’t run the ball often last season.

The Lions' defense was one of the worst in the conference last season and allowed a ton of points per game, including 59 to James Madison in the FCS Championship. Even against the Ragin Cajuns without Levi Lewis at the helm, this team will have their hands full against the superior size and athleticism of the Louisana offense.

Louisiana has a completely new look program from head coach to having a brand new quarterback at the helm for the first time in five years. This functions as a solid warmup game against an inferior opponent, but we like SE Louisiana to keep this close and cover the number. They’re among the better teams in their conference, and the offense is good enough to put points on the board to keep this game within the big spread. Final score prediction, Louisiana wins but SE Louisana covers 49-31.
