San Jose State at UNLV 10/21/21 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The final game of the Thursday night college football schedule will feature a matchup between the San Jose State Spartans and the UNLV Rebels. The Spartans (3-4) have dropped three of their last four games and rank near the bottom of the country in scoring (19.4 ppg). On Friday, San Jose State was held to six points during the first four quarters of a double overtime 19-13 home loss against San Diego State.

San Jose State RB Tyler Nevens tied the score in the first overtime with a one-yard touchdown plunge. Derrick Deese Jr. added six catched for 113 yards for the Spartans.

The UNLV Rebels have lost 12 straight games for second year head coach Marcus Arroyo, but are starting to show signs of improvement. On Saturday night, UNLV allowed the game-winning touchdown with 35 seconds remaining during a 28-24 home loss versus Utah State. The Rebels (0-6) were on the wrong side of a 26-12 margin in first downs.

UNLV RB Charles Williams carried the offense with 221 yards rushing and three scores on 27 carries. Kyle Williams contributed four receptions for 48 yards in a losing effort for the Rebels.

San Jose State leads this series with a 18-6-1 record, including a 34-17 home victory versus UNLV a season ago. The Rebels are showing signs of life and I like their chances of pulling off the upset against the Spartans. Final Score Prediction, UNLV Rebels win 24-23.
