Last season Tuioti threw for 1,460 yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions. Bryson Carroll is the leading rusher returning from last season when he had 536 yards and two touchdowns. The leading wide receiver returning from last season is Jordan Kress, who had 530 yards and six touchdowns receptions.

Defensively New Mexico was next to last in all of college football and must replace its top four tacklers from a season ago. Jerrick Reed II, who had 51 tackles in 2019, is the top tackler returning for the defense. Devon Sanders, who sacked the quarterback 1.5 times last season, returns to continue disrupting opposing offenses. New Mexico’s defensive secondary lost three of its four starters and will be susceptible to offenses that pass down field frequently.

New Mexico will be playing its first game of the regular season as the Lobos game versus Colorado State was canceled due to positive covid-19 tests. Last season the Lobos lost 10 of 12 games and each of their final nine to end the season. San Jose State is coming off a hard fought defensive struggle that resulted in a 17-6 victory for the Spartans over Air Force. San Jose State’s tough defense will shut down the New Mexico offense and the Spartans offense led by quarterback Nick Starkel will score enough to win and cover. Final Score Prediction, San Jose State Spartans win and cover ATS 27-6.
