The New Year’s Day Bowl schedule will kick-off with a battle between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Arkansas Razorbacks from Raymond James Stadium. The Nittany Lions started the season on a five-game winning streak and rank seventh nationally in scoring defense (16.8 ppg). Last time out, Penn State surrendered 451 yards of total offense during a 30-27 road loss against Michigan State.

Penn State trailed 14-0 in the first quarter and Jahan Dotson caught two touchdown passes to tie the score. QB Sean Clifford completed 23 of 34 passes for 313 yards and three scores for the Nittany Lions.

The Arkansas Razorbacks put together a breakout season for second year head coach Sam Pittman and rank 13th nationally in rushing offense (217.3 ypg). In their regular season finale, Arkansas scored 24 points during the second half to pull away for a 34-17 home victory versus Missouri. The 21st ranked Razorbacks (8-4) outgained the Tigers by a 425-216 margin.

Arkansas QB K.J. Jefferson completed 15 of 19 throws for 262 yards and added 58 yards on the ground. Treylon Burks caught seven passes for 129 yards and a touchdown for the Razorbacks.
