The Oregon State Beavers will hope to pull off the upset win when they go on the road to Autzen Stadium to take on rival Oregon. The Oregon Ducks had their college football playoff hopes ripped away from them when they lost 38-7 to Utah last week and fell to 9-2 (6-2 conference), but remain one of the best teams in the Pac-12. Oregon State has bounced back from two road losses with back-to-back wins over Arizona State and Stanford, they also upset Utah earlier this season and are 7-4 (5-3 conference).

Oregon State’s offense is going to lean heavily on the run game, they’re averaging 433.9 total yards and 33.1 points per game which rank third in the Pac-12. The Beavers average 229.5 rushing yards per game which rank ninth nationally led by junior BJ Baylor. Baylor has racked up 1200 rushing yards and found the end zone 12 times, he’s averaging 6.1 yards per carrying. Sophomore Chance Nolan has been solid as the starting quarterback, completing 63.5% of his passes for 17 touchdowns to 8 interceptions.

Oregon State is in the middle of the Pac-12 allowing 377 yards and 24.8 points per game, they stop the run and pass and are just a very average defensive unit. The defense has answered back-to-back poor showings against Cal and Colorado, two of the worst offenses in the conference, but have turned back up in the intensity in their last two games forcing three turnovers and holding Stanford to 230 yards in their last game.

Oregon has had some struggles offensively this season and it caught up to them in the loss to Utah, managing just 294 yards and 7 points. The Ducks are averaging 427.9 yards and 32.7 points per game, but have relied heavily on the run game with 212.5 rushing yards per game, which is second in the Pac-12. Anthony Brown has been solid and taken care of the ball, completing 62.8% of his passes for 13 touchdowns, and is a threat with his legs.

Oregon has one of the best defenses they’ve had in recent years, allowing 369.5 yards and 24 points per game both of which rank fourth in the Pac-12. The Ducks have dominated the turnover battle this season forcing 14 turnovers, and are +9 in the turnover battle on the year. A large reason for their losses to Utah and Stanford? The inability to force a turnover in either of those games.

Oregon State has had an up and down season with some interesting losses to Cal and Colorado, but a win over Utah. They’ll be up for this rivalry game and I think especially the defense puts together a great performance. Oregon is also solid defensively and with a total in the 60s, I see this rivalry game being a low-scoring grind it out game with two excellent rushing attacks. Both teams have reasonable success stopping the run, and this is a quick game with a lot of clock running due to the run where Oregon pulls out the win. Final score prediction, Oregon wins and the total goes UNDER 28-24.
