Oregon Ducks at Georgia Bulldogs 8/3/22 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The Oregon Ducks visit the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday September 3 in the opening game of the 2022 College Football regular season for both teams. Oregon was 10-3 last season and lost to Oklahoma 47-32 in the Alamo Bowl. Bo Nix transferred from Auburn to Oregon and will likely be the starting quarterback for the Ducks. Nix played against Georgia while at Auburn, with little success.

The Oregon offensive line has talent and experience and could give Nix enough time to test the tough Georgia defensive secondary. Nix has talented wide receivers to throw to in Donte Thornton and Seven McGee amongst others. Travis Dye returns as the top running back for Oregon. Last season Dye rushed for 1,271 yards and 16 touchdowns and if the Ducks can run early, the Oregon passing game will have an advantage.

The Georgia Bulldogs finished last season 14-1 overall and 8-0 in SEC play. Georgia defeated Alabama 33-18 to win the college football national championship. The Bulldogs offense is as talented as last season, with quarterback Stetson Bennett returning to guide the them. Last season, Bennett passed for 2,862 yards with 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Kenny McIntosh will be joined by Kendall Milton as the top two returning running backs from last season. McIntosh rushed for only 328 yards and three touchdowns and Milton rushed for 264 yards with one touchdown. Georgia lost Zamir White and James Cook, who finished one and two in rushing last season. The Bulldogs defense will be strong once again, but the loss of several players to the NFL could make the Bulldogs a bit more suspect early in the season.

This matchup has early-season implications. If Oregon can upset the defending national champions, the Ducks would be looked at as one of the favorites to win another Pac-12 championship. Last season, Oregon upset Ohio State in Columbus and could pull off a similar upset on Saturday in Atlanta. Oregon will take advantage of a Georgia defense that has reloaded and will not be at 100% efficiency in the first game and will cover the number on the road, but the Bulldogs will play well enough to win straight up. Final Score Prediction, Georgia Bulldogs win 30-20.
