Old Dominion at Virginia 9/21/19 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The Old Dominion Monarchs visit Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday to play the No. 25 ranked Virginia Cavaliers. Old Dominion returned from a bye week and lost to Virginia Tech 31-17. Stone Smartt scored a pair rushing touchdowns of 3 and 15 yards in the loss, but was hurt with just over five minutes remaining and his status is unknown.

Virginia Tech improved to 3-0 on the season following its 31-24 victory over the Florida State Seminoles. Wayne Taulapapa scored two rushing touchdowns for the Cavaliers including one with just 2:34 left to play as Virginia hung on late to come out the winner. Virginia is now 2-0 in ACC play and leads the Coastal division. 

Stone Smartt has thrown for 280 yards and one interception. Smartt also has rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns. The leading rusher is Lala Davis with 27 carries for 143 yards and one touchdown. Eric Kumah leads all receivers with seven receptions for 89 yards. The leading tackler for Old Dominion is Lawrence Garner with 17.

Bryce Perkins leads Virginia with 668 yards passing, five touchdowns and four interceptions and has rushed for a team-leading 158 yards and one touchdown. Wayne Taulapapa leads running backs in rushing with 119 yards and four touchdowns. Joe Reed has 19 receptions for 175 yards and two touchdowns for the Cavaliers.

Old Dominion will be no match for Virginia on both sides of the ball. The Cavaliers have a dual-threat QB and a solid rushing game with Wayne Taulapapa. Defensively, the Cavaliers are allowing just 18.3 points per game, while averaging 37.7 per game on the offense. Virginia has covered the number in 7of the last 10 at home.
