The Oklahoma Sooners will hope to keep their Big 12 Championship hopes alive when they go on the road to rival Oklahoma State. Oklahoma had their undefeated season come to an end two weeks ago when they fell 27-14 to Baylor, but bounced back with a solid 28-21 win over Iowa State and improved to 10-1 (7-1 conference). Oklahoma State lost to that same Iowa State team, but has since rattled off four straight wins by 52, 21, 46, and 23, and is now 10-1 (7-1 conference).

Oklahoma saw a huge increase in offensive productivity when they switched to Caleb Williams and have been one of the best offenses in the Big 12. Oklahoma is averaging 38.9 points and 441.6 yards per game, ranking second and first in the conference. Williams is completing 65.5% of his passes for 1,418 yards, 15 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He’s also a factor in the run game with 372 yards and six touchdowns.

The struggles for Oklahoma this season have been on the defensive end where they’re allowing 384.5 yards and 24.2 points per game, both rank in the bottom half of the Big 12. Oklahoma’s defense has been improved from previous years but is still struggling, especially on the back end where they’re allowing 262 passing yards which are ninth in the conference.

Oklahoma State has had some issues offensively despite a senior quarterback and a solid run game, they’re sixth in the Big 12 in total offense and fifth in scoring offense. That senior quarterback, Spencer Saunders, is completing 60.2% of his passes for 1,997 yards and 15 touchdowns and is a threat with his legs rushing for 417 years and five touchdowns.

Senior Jaylen Warren waited his turn behind one of the best running backs in college football the last two seasons and has taken advantage of this chance this year. Warren has racked up 1,078 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground and added 16 catches for 164 yards through the air, and should be able to be effective against a weaker Oklahoma defense.

Oklahoma State has leaned on one of the best defenses in the country to put themselves in a position to make the Big 12 championship game. The Cowboys are allowing just 261.3 yards and 14.9 points per game, both leading the Big 12 and ranking third and second in the nation respectively. Over the last four games, they’ve allowed just 23 combined points including a shutout last week against Texas Tech - who boats a high-powered passing attack.

Oklahoma has had a run of dominance in the Big 12 but this is the year that it comes to an end at the hands of their rival. Oklahoma State has been a dominant defensive unit and against an Oklahoma offense that isn’t as high-powered as they have been throughout the last five years. Even with Caleb Williams, this Oklahoma offense isn’t good enough to find continued success against the Cowboys, and Oklahoma State’s offense does enough to win the game. Final score prediction, Oklahoma State wins and covers ATS 28-21.
