Oklahoma at Iowa State 9/15/18 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The week three Saturday college football schedule will kickoff with a matchup between the Oklahoma Sooners and Iowa State Cyclones. The fifth ranked Sooners have looked very impressive in scoring 112 points to open the season with consecutive victories. Last week, Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray threw for three touchdowns and rushed for two more scores during an easy 49-21 victory versus UCLA. The Sooners racked up 485 yards of total offense on the afternoon.

Through two games, Oklahoma is averaging 568 yards of total offense and ranks ninth in scoring offense. Iowa State will try to slow the Sooners down with a defense that ranks 19th in total defense and allows 13 points on average. The Iowa State Cyclones won eight games last year for just the sixth time in the last 100 years in school history. Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell is one of the rising stars in the coaching industry and has this program pointed in the right direction. The Cyclones had their season opener versus South Dakota State cancelled due to lightning and last week looked sluggish during a 13-3 loss at Iowa.

The Cyclones managed just 188 yards of total offense and allowed the only touchdown of the game with four minutes remaining. Iowa State was stifled on the ground to the tune of 19 yards on 25 attempts.

Oklahoma has won an astonishing 74 of the 82 all-time meetings, but were shocked last season at home by a 38-31 final score. The Cyclones outscored the Sooners 25-7 in the second half and won despite allowing 513 yards of total offense. This is Oklahoma’s first road test and Iowa State will stay within the number. Final Score Prediction, Oklahoma Sooners win but fall short ATS 34-27.
