North Texas at UTSA 12/2/22 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The Conference USA title game will take place on Friday night, when the North Texas Mean Green invade the Alamodome to take on the UTSA Roadrunners. The Mean Green (7-5) won three of their last four games to finish in second place in the conference standings and rank 22nd nationally in rushing offense at 204.2 ypg. On Saturday, North Texas forced two turnovers and rushed for 159 yards during a 21-17 home victory versus Rice. 

North Texas got on the scoreboard first on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Austin Aune to Jyaire Shorter. Aune gave the Mean Green the lead for good on a six-yard touchdown pass to Ikaika Ragsdale with ten minutes remaining. Ragdsale rushed for a team-high 122 yards and a seven-yard score.

The UTSA Roadrunners ran through the conference season without a loss and scored more than 30 points in each of the eight games. On Saturday, UTSA erased a 24-point first half deficit to storm back for a 34-31 home victory versus UTEP. The Roadrunners (10-2) were outgained by a 498-458 margin and forced two turnovers in the afternoon. 

UTSA senior QB Frank Harris shredded the UTEP secondary for 382 passing yards and three touchdowns. Tykee Ogle-Kellogg caught four passes for 142 yards and a 70-yard touchdown reception. Joshua Cephus caught a 65-yard touchdown pass and Zakhari Franklin added a 14-yard score for the Roadrunners. 

These two programs have split their previous ten meetings and UTSA won this year’s matchup at home by a 31-27 final score. North Texas led 13-10 entering the final quarter and Frank Harris threw the game-winning touchdown with 15 seconds remaining. Take the Mean Green to win the rematch.
