Navy at SMU 10/31/20 - College Football Picks & Predictions

Gerald J. Ford Stadium will play host to an American Conference showdown between the Navy Midshipmen and the SMU Mustangs. The Midshipmen have split their first six games, with their three victories coming by a total of nine points. On Saturday, Navy was outscored by 13 points during the second half of a 37-21 home loss versus Houston.

Navy QB Dale Morris threw for 206 yards on 18 attempts with two touchdowns and one interception. Ryan Mitchell caught a 60-yard touchdown pass in a losing effort for the Midshipmen.

The SMU Mustangs raced out of the gates with five straight wins to start the season for head coach Sonny Dykes. On Saturday, SMU missed a chance to catapult to the top of the American Conference race during an ugly 42-13 home loss versus Cincinnati. The 22nd ranked Mustangs were outscored 28-3 in the second half and managed just 290 yards of total offense.

Senior QB Shane Buechele completed 23 of his 44 passes for 216 yards and a touchdown. Kylen Granson added four catches for 68 yards in a losing effort for the Mustangs.

Navy has won four of the previous five matchups in this series, including a 35-28 home victory a season ago. The Midshipmen will be able to control the clock with their triple option attack and they are my lean on the side. The stronger play is on the under. Final Score Prediction, SMU Mustangs win but our top play is on the under total 30-20.
