On Friday, the Navy Midshipmen visit Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, Texas to play the SMU Mustangs. Navy improved to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the American Athletic Conference following its 53-21 rout of Tulsa on Saturday. Daba Fofana rushed for 159 yards with three touchdowns to help lead the Midshipman to an easy victory on Saturday. Navy gained 490 yards of total offense and held Tulsa to 309 yards of total offense.

Navy quarterback Tai Lavatai has thrown for 515 yards with two touchdown passes. Running back Daba Fofana has rushed for 267 yards and three touchdowns, while Vincent Terrell Jr has 146 yards receiving and one touchdown to lead all receivers for Navy. On defense, linebacker John Marshall is the leading tackler with 40. Navy has 14 quarterback sacks and one interception. 

SMU dropped to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the American Athletic Conference following its 41-19 loss to the UCF Knights this past Wednesday. SMU allowed 484 yards of total offense to UCF and the Mustangs gained 476 yards of total offense. However, SMU turned the ball over twice and did not force a single UCF turnover. SMU quarterback Tanner Mordecai passed for 295 yards and one interception.

Quarterback Tanner Mordecai has thrown for 1,680 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. The leading rusher for SMU is Velton Gardner with 230 yards and one touchdown, while the leading receiver is Rashee Rice with 687 yards and four touchdown receptions. On defense, linebacker Jimmy Phillips Jr is the leading tackler with 34. SMU has 12 quarterback sacks and three interceptions.

SMU struggles to cover the number, failing to cover six of the last seven overall and the Mustangs have failed to cover the number in five of the last six versus an opponent from the AAC. Navy is coming off at a 32-point rout of Tulsa and the Midshipmen have covered the number in six of the last eight. Navy has had success versus SMU covering the number in seven of the last nine and the Midshipmen are 12-4 straight up over the last 16 versus the Mustangs.
