The Michigan State Spartans and Wake Forest Demon Deacons are set to visit Yankee Stadium in New York, New York as they will meet in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. The Michigan State Spartans come into this matchup with a 6-6 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the Maryland Terrapins, 19-16. Senior QB Brian Lewerke struggled to find much consistency through the air for Michigan State as he connected on 30 of his 41 pass attempts for 342 yards and 2 interceptions. Freshman WR Tre Mosley was the top target for Lewerke and the Spartans as he hauled in 8 catches for 73 yards.

The Michigan State Spartans were good on the defensive side of the ball against the Maryland Terrapins as they held them to 16 points and a total of 316 yards of offense. Sophomore LB Nate Harvey led the way for the Michigan State defense with 8 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble. The Spartans were able to get into the Maryland backfield a handful of times as senior DE Kenny Willekes, senior DT Mike Panasiuk, and junior DE Jacub Panasiuk combined for 6.5 TFL and 2.5 sacks.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons come into this matchup with an 8-4 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent road game against the Syracuse Orange, 39-30 in OT. Sophomore QB Sam Hartman had a solid game through the air for Wake Forest as he connected on 25 of his 42 pass attempts for 350 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 interceptions. Freshman WR Donavon Greene was the top target for Hartman and the Demon Deacons as he hauled in 7 catches for 172 yards and a TD.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the Syracuse Orange as they allowed them to score 33 points and rack up a total of 441 yards of offense. Junior LB Ja’Cquez Williams led the way for the Wake Forest defense with 10 tackles, 2.5 TFL, and 1 sack. The secondary had a productive outing for the Demon Deacons as junior DB Ja’Sir Taylor hauled in the lone interception of the game.

The Michigan State Spartans have struggled this season as they are sitting at 6-6, and a big reason they haven’t had as much success is due to their offensive production as they are only averaging 22 PPG. QB Brian Lewerke has been problematic for the Spartans this year as he has thrown 16 TDs compared to 12 interceptions, and the lack of a ground game has forced the senior to shoulder most of the blame. Wake Forest on the other hand has been explosive on the offensive side of the ball as they are scoring an average of 32.8 PPG, and QB Jaime Newman has been one of the better dual threats in the ACC (29 total TDs). The Wake Forest defense may not be very good, but they shouldn’t have much of a problem figuring out the Michigan State offense. I believe the wrong team is favored in this game as Wake Forest has been a fun team to watch this season. Take the points to be safe, but my best bet is on the + ML. Final Score Prediction, Wake Forest Demon Deacons win and cover ATS 31-23.
