Michigan opened its 2020 college football regular season with a 49-24 victory on the road over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Michigan's offense gained 478 yards while its defense allowed Minnesota 326 yards and forced two Golden Gophers turnovers. Michigan jumped out early to a 21-10 lead after just one quarter and 35-17 at the half and easily went on to the 25-point victory. Michigan quarterback Joe Milton passed for 225 yards in one touchdown.

Michigan State is coming off a loss to Rutgers while Michigan opened its regular season with a 25-point victory over Minnesota.
