Miami Hurricanes - 2022 College Football Season Preview & Wins Total Prediction

The Miami Hurricanes finished the 2021 regular season 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the ACC. Oddsmakers have given the Hurricanes a wins total projection of 8.5. Mario Cristobal begins his first year at the helm as the new Miami head coach. Miami had a solid season in 2021 and is expected to be even stronger this season.

Miami's offense will be led by quarterback Tyler Van Dyke who replaced the injured D’Eriq King and passed for nearly 3,000, 25 touchdowns and only six interceptions.  Miami's offensive line is led by left tackle Zion Nelson who is expected to one day play in the NFL. Jakai Clark returns as a talented center while DJ Scaife is able to play either guard or tackle. Expect Miami's pass protection to be very strong this season

The running game will be led by Henry Parrish, a transfer from Ole Miss and Jaylan Kinghton returns after last season rushing for 561 yards with eight touchdowns. Miami lost its leading receiver from last season Charleston Rambo who is now playing in the NFL but Clemson transfer Frank Ladson will make a big difference while Key’Shawn Smith, who caught 33 passes last season, and Will Mallory both returned for the Hurricanes.

Miami's defense lost several key parts and most of the starters from last season, as many players exited via the transfer portal. However, Miami did add six transfers of its own and those players will make a big difference for the Hurricanes. The defensive line will have transfers Akeem Mesidor and Jacob Lichenstein at the tackles, as well as  transfers Mitchell Agude and Antonio Moultrie as the starting defensive ends.

The back seven will include transfer Caleb Johnson at middle linebacker and Daryl Porter at cornerback. Both Johnson and Porter are transfers. Tyrique Stevenon is likely to start opposite Porter at the other cornerback spot. Corey Flagg returns after last season leading the Hurricanes in tackles and Wynmon Steed, who was second in tackles also returns, giving Miami a very deep linebacker corps.

Miami has a very solid offense with a very talented offensive line, strength at quarterback and running back. The wide receivers will stretch the field and the tight ends are sure handed over the middle. Miami's defense has been completely rebuilt through transfers and will be the key to the success of the hurricanes. If the new players mesh with one another Miami will be one of the top teams in the ACC. Expect Miami to finish over its 8.5 wins total projection.
